Investigation into the use of Motorist's revenues
May 09, 2022
A lot of money is extracted from motorists every year in the form of duties, taxes, levies, fees, fines and tolls and it's important to know where that money goes and what is done with it. The Australian Motorists Party, when in parliament, we will use our powers to bring about an inquiry to investigate where the billions of dollars motorists pay each year end up. Continue reading
More of motorist's fees, fines and taxes to be spent on roads
May 09, 2022
More of the money governments and councils raise from motorists, in the form of fees, fines and taxes, should be spent on fixing our free roads and alleviate congestion and address safety issues, not treated as revenue raising for other purposes. Continue reading
Sydney slows down as state government pushes for lower speed limits
April 11, 2022
Motorists could be forced to slow down to 40km/h when driving throughout the City of Sydney, as the NSW government works with local councils to reduce speed limits in areas with high numbers of pedestrians and cyclists.
Rip up Sydney CBD bike lanes
April 05, 2022
Our policy is that Sydney's new CBD bike lanes that have taken over traffic lanes and valuable delivery parking should be ripped up and replaced with shared lanes. Green zones that both cars and bikes can use. However, to ensure safety, speed limits on the shared lanes reduced to 30kmh. In the event of high traffic, all lanes can be used to reduce congestion rather than having drivers stuck in traffic while bike lanes remain empty. Continue reading
A Rough Ride for Australian Motorists
December 08, 2021
Australian motorists have for a long time now been given a rough ride by all levels of Australian government. Nothing is being done to fix the ever increasing congestion levels on our roads other than to force us onto expensive tolls roads. We are overcharged at all levels of government, imposed with punishing fees and fines, made to pay ludicrous parking costs, constantly being pushed from city streets to make way for bikes or trams, we're blamed for global warming and allowed to die or be injured in huge numbers on our roads ea... The Useless Butchering of Sydney's Streets.
September 22, 2021
In Sydney City Council's drive to eradicate vehicles from our roads under the guise of needing more bike lanes or the like (usually where a bike lane is useless), Sydney's streets are continuously being butchered at the expense of motorists. As we've seen recently with Sydney's Pitt Street, lanes have been lost for both delivery vehicles and traffic flow. Important roadways for deliveries and traffic flow are being converted into cycleways that go virtually unused! Add to the insult the fact that we often see cyclists using the remaining roa... Driving towards a greener motoring
September 21, 2021
Motorists have been a major source of greenhouse gas emissions that cause climate change. However, we believe the vast majority of motorists would prefer to drive clean energy vehicles and not contribute to climate change at all given the chance. And every assistance should be given to motorists wanting to make the change from fossil burning vehicles to electric.
Currently there are no real incenti... Continue reading
Clover’s vision for Sydney motorists?
September 10, 2021
You may have seen this "sculpture" on Hickson Road, Walsh Bay in Sydney's CBD. We're not sure if its art, or Clover committing to sculpture what she'd like to do to motor vehicles after a big night out? Putting aside its questionable artistic qualities, to us it symbolises Sydney Lord Mayor's attitude to cars. And you may well be excused for thinking so when you see what is being done to Sydney's streets in an endeavour to remove cars and delivery vehicles from them. With... Continue reading
